Announcing Production Base 1

Today, we’re announcing our new 50,000sqft manufacturing facility in South London, Production Base 1. The facility will support production of up to 50MWs per year of our synthetic fuel systems, enabling us to immediately start domestic production of synthetic fuel in the UK.

Our first manufacturing facility, Production Base 1. Located in South London.

Rivan makes synthetic fuels for industries you can’t electrify at country-scale and fossil-fuel prices. To do this with the urgency required to make a dent in Europe’s energy security concerns, we’ve always focused on vertically integrating our entire supply chain, engineering and manufacturing. From day 1, we’ve designed our systems for ultra-scale with a domestic supply-chain to aid speed and reduce risk to scaling production. History doesn’t seem to care if your pilot goes well, it cares whether you can deliver your product at scale.

Production Base 1 will be the first manifestation of that: 50,000sqft designed from scratch to rapidly increase speed and scale of our production. The facility will only support a fraction of our customer demand, but lays the blueprint for future manufacturing facilities. The facility will support all fabrication, assembly and testing of production systems, alongside dramatically expanding R&D and testing resources.

We’ve kept production in South London to enable us to have engineering and manufacturing under one roof, dramatically increasing the speed we can make good decisions across departments. To support greater engineering and manufacturing speed, we’re hiring for 35 new roles across Engineering, Manufacturing, Operations and Permitting. If you want to work in our new facility on a technology that will have an immediate impact in the real world, at pace, with great people – apply!

The facility has undergone an entire refurbishment from its prior use, with first move-in date planned as early June. Being able to design Production Base 1 from the ground up with custom power, layouts, machinery, pneumatics, hydraulics, testing facilities and storage will enable us to remove many of the bottlenecks we’ve experienced with our current, smaller facility.

There is much talk about re-industrialisation within the UK, but often without action that follows. We’ve always tried to lead by example in everything we’ve done, none more so than our product itself. When many said synthetic fuels cannot be made cheaply, we’ve dispelled the myth with custom hardware on the ground at costs, scale and speed others didn’t believe could happen. We hope Production Base 1 will have a similar impact, paving the way for a new-age of British manufacturing.
