Rivan Industries is a vertically integrated synthetic fuel company designed to decarbonise industries you can’t electrify. We aim to make synthetic fuel cheaper than fossil fuels and sustain life on earth by keeping CO2 locked underground.
We’re looking for a Senior GIS Specialist to accelerate our project development across Europe. We’re looking for someone to work with our internal Land Managers and Project Managers from site origination through permitting, to construction handover to enable us to operate fast and decisively as we scaled. This role will be predominantly focused on the UK, Portugal and Spain, but will also include many other countries in Europe as we expand.
The role:
- Testing of potential search areas for our projects based on feedback from Project Managers and Land Managers considering (inter alia)
- Minimum land holding area;
- Proximity to Grid Network
- Land Title identification
- Sequential review process to aid with site selection and landowner engagement including
- ALC, flood, landscape designations, ecology, heritage, infrastructure (gas-grid), topology
- Ownership and usage mapping, incl title boundary assessment
- Production and review of of ZTVs
- Production of Legal Plans (Option plans, Easement Plans etc as necessary)
- Documentation to support Project Managers within the relevant Permit Approval process depending on local planning law requirements
- Maps to aid with analysis of constraints
- Production of plans to aid with analysis of regional and national land use plans
- Cumulative assessment plans
- Topographical and slope analysis aligned to system performance requirements
- Creation, maintenance, visualisation and evaluation of geodata to aid with Rivan projects including
- Internal documentation of project plans and mapping
- Habitat and species distribution mapping
- Ecological connectivity mapping
- Noise contraint layers
- SSI, National Park, and other land use designation constraints mapping
- Archaeological evaluation trench location mapping
- Agricultural building and infrastructure mapping
- Cost evaluation tools
- Software and tooling
- Python scripting using ArcPy and open-source libraries (Shapely, GeoPandas, GDAL) to automate repetitive workflows
- Building and maintaining project geodatabases
- Integrating GIS with document management systems and project databases
Core skills:
- 5-6+ years professional experience in large-scale renewable and infrastructure projects
- Bachelor’s or Masters in related field
- Experience and aptitude for brilliant first-principles thinking and strategy
Specifics:
- £60-80k base-salary
